(TXF: "Little Green Men") The location was probably chosen by Mulder for his interest in conspiracies and his previous relationship with Deep Throat, an informant of Mulder's who shared his name with the whistle-blower in the Watergate Scandal. However, the connection between the Watergate Scandal and the Watergate Hotel & Office Complex is only hinted at in the episode and the historical Deep Throat is never referenced in any episode of The X-Files.
