In the mid-16th Century PD, she served as captain of HMS Gorgon, one of the ships in Commodore Rudolph Heissman's force "Green Two", guarding the Manticore System. When a freighter arrived identifying itself as the Leviathan and asking for assistance, all ships went on an intercept course. Halfway to their destination, Captain Shapira and her crew spotted more ships lying in wait nearby, and informed the Commodore that the "helpless" freighter was likely a trap. Heissman noted that the captain had a tendency of "ascribing to luck things which properly belong to training and vigilance".

Soon after, the newcomers were identified as the Volsung Mercenaries, who had come to take over the system. The RMN force engaged them, and during the following battle, the Gorgon was destroyed by enemy missile fire. (HHA6.2: ACTA)
