Marios Valerius Makarios commonly known as simply Makarios (61 AD - 124 AD) was a ancient Diadochian poet from Alexandretta, best known for his Epigrams, published in Diadochia between 106 AD and 123 AD, during the reigns of the emperors Flavius II and Adrianus I. In his famed Epigrams, Makarios satirizes Diadochian culture, city life and the promiscuous activities of his acquaintances and romanticizes the country and the common people. He is considered to be the creator of the Diadochian epigram.
