The laser designator was first seen in use in the Battle of Sector Six during the Battle of Earth, by an injured UNSC Marine Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, S. Hartley. After retrieving the package containing the designator from a combat zone with T. Rymann, the ODSTs proceeded to a position in Sector Six in order to acquire the trajectory information of John-117's descent through Earth's atmosphere. Though injured, Hartley succeeded in the task and the UNSC ground forces got to Spartan-117's crash site in time.

  • The Laser Designator is an attachment that appears only in Medal of Honor 2010's singleplayer. It is a variant of the Laser Emitter where instead of emitting a red laser to increase accuracy, it emits an infrared laser only seen through night vision goggles. It is first seen in the mission First In attached on Rabbit's M4 when he goes through the dark rooms in a building. It only appears on missions that take place at night or involves dark places such as caves or buildings without power where night vision goggles are required.
  • The LP7 laser painter was a gadget that was cut from the release version of Battlefield 2. Its method of operation is unknown, but was designed to guide some sort of laser-guided weaponry.
