- The word "fringe" is commonly used to refer to the strands of fabric dangling from the edge of a cloth. It's pretty. It's eye-catching. It's dependent on the main cloth like all those hipsters who refuse to admit to themselves they can't live life as they know it without the mainstream culture, governing system, corporations, landscapers, and education. The only way the fringe can become the main fabric is to copy itself into a repeating pattern until it becomes its own cloth. Oh, wait. That's not fringe, that's lace!

- Goofy short bit of hair that comes down to your eyebrows. Someone told me that Hamburger-a-gogo type people call them "bangs", but this is so ridiculously strange that it's not worth thinking about. Some people can look very stylish with a fringe (i.e. me, Georgia) while others look goofy (Jas). The Beatles started it apparently. One of them had a German girlfriend, and she cut their hair with a pudding bowl and the rest is history.

- Fringe is a science fiction television series co-created by J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The series follows an FBI Fringe Division team based in Boston, Massachusetts under the supervision of Homeland Security. The team uses unorthodox "fringe" science and FBI investigative techniques to investigate "the Pattern", a series of unexplained, often ghastly occurrences which are occurring all over the world. The show has been described as a cross between The X-Files, Altered States, The Twilight Zone and Dark Angel.
- Fringe was an alien hybrid of two different races, one of which being the H'San Natall. His Earth mother was a woman named Tamara Gorman from Leesburg, Virginia. Tamara's husband was Mickey Gorman, a devoutly religious man who, believing Fringe to be his natural son, came to view the child as an abomination against God. More than sixteen years ago, Mickey Gorman tossed the infant off the Leesburg Creek Bridge, hoping that it would drown. The child obviously survived however and grew up in the forests around Leesburg.
