- Krill was a powerful warlock who plotted to overthrow the Circle of Enchanters and enslave the kingdom in the 940s. He always wore black and his yellow eyes were the only visible part of his body. He launched his evil plan from the castle Largoneth, where he and his misshapen followers built a huge, primitive evil temple where Krill would regularly engage in human sacrifice. The mage Belboz knew that a powerful Enchanter would easily be detected and destroyed by Krill, so the Guild of Enchanters sent a novice to vanquish their foe.
- Krill led his people as they struggled to survive when the city builders took over. In the year 2266, he saw the Federation Starfleet starship USS Enterprise enter orbit of his homeworld. Krill expressed his thanks to its captain, James T. Kirk, and his landing party for destroying one of the machines.
- The Krill were humanoid in basic appearance, but much larger than a human. They were covered in armour plating and a layer of spines. Their heads were fish-like, with wide gaping mouths filled with fangs. The Krill had powerful claws which could slice through metal.

However, Krill later became skeptical of Kirk's plans and saw him as a threat to his leadership. He tried to stop stop Kirk, but was subdued by his first officer, Commander Spock. Krill was then given the chance to lead his people against the machines, but rejected it in favor of going against them alone. The plan worked and Krill and his people were able to destroy the city builders. (TOS comic: "Invasion of the City Builders")

Their heads were fish-like, with wide gaping mouths filled with fangs. The Krill had powerful claws which could slice through metal. The Krill were dangerous because of their considerable resistance to death. Their cells were unspecialised, which meant any cell could do any function and there were no vital organs. They could continue to fight even if they were dismembered, and limbs that were severed would continue to attack. They would continue to regenerate if they were damaged. (PROSE: Storm Harvest)

His most recent performance review by his captain states that he shows signs of mental instability and is unnecessarily hostile to his men—indeed he later proves he is perfectly content to drown his crewmen. Krill loathes Casey Ryback and seems insanely jealous of the Captain's high esteem for the lowly cook. He is quickly revealed to be in league with rogue CIA operative William Strannix as his undercover second-in-command. Krill is generally mean and contemptuous to everyone he speaks to. In the Captain's presence, however, he is considerably more respectful and nervous.
