As the rate of technological development progresses, it seems that items are more durable yet become increasingly short-lived. As long as technology progresses at a healthy rate (that is, faster and faster), this trend will continue. However, in some instances, things do not go out of date nearly as quickly, such as junkyards and recycling plants. Also, resources such as Wikipedia and LexusNexus are not going out of date either. Technology will develop to the point that increasingly more things will show an extended lifetime.
