- Final Fantasy IV: The After Years è il sequel ufficiale di Final Fantasy IV, ambientato circa 17 anni dopo gli eventi del quarto capitolo. Originariamente rilasciato il 18 Febbraio 2008 per i telefoni cellulari modello NTT Docomo FOMA 903i, esclusivi del Giappone (come già Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII-), il gioco veniva rilasciato gradualmente secondo una serie di "episodi", in genere associati ai singoli personaggi: secondo il produttore esecutivo Takashi Tokita, l'idea era di fare in modo che i fans vedessero il gioco come un "manga videoludico" a puntate, sul modello del manga Live a Live.
- Einige Monate später erschien das Spiel im Sortiment von Nintendos WiiWare, wurde dabei in nur noch neun Kapitel umstrukturiert und erschien im Rahmen dessen auch außerhalb Japans. Allerdings verzichtete Square Enix auf eine deutsche Übersetzung, sondern bietet lediglich englische oder französische Texte an. Ein Mehrspielermodus ist zwar faktisch vorhanden, dabei beschränken sich allerdings die Aktionsmöglichkeiten der zusätzlichen Spieler ausschließlich auf das Auswählen von Kampfkommandos, während Spieler Eins das Spiel praktisch alleine spielt, fällt also eher unreizvoll aus.
- The game has been released as WiiWare in nine chapters. The base game (consisting of the Prologue, Ceodore's Chapter, and Kain's Chapter) costs 800 points. The Gathering Chapter and both parts of the Final Chapter are bundled together for 800 points. The other character chapters cost 300 each. The story of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is set seventeen years after Final Fantasy IV, and focuses on the arrival of a second moon.
- Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is a Wiiware sequel to the RPG Final Fantasy IV, available on multiple platforms. For the sake of spoilers, if you haven't beaten the original, then it is advised you do so before starting this up, but honestly, it's not really mandatory. Like some SNES RPGs, this has multiplayer in battles, as you are able to split who controls which characters, so if you and a buddy want to play this, but one of you doesn't have a Wii while the other does, you could take it on like that.
