In 1949, the Gestapo investigated Dick for possible subversive activity. Dick was found innocent, but nevertheless he fled to Pluto in 1951. There, he lived in exile with the Jewish population, who welcomed him. In the 1970's, Dick worked closely with Harry Turtledove and L. Sprague de Camp, forming the Big Three of underground dissident literature.
