Born as Karl Peter Geurs in Los Angeles, California he is well known for his work as writer, producer, director, and story editor on several animated projects including Flash Gordon (1979-1980), The New Adventures of Zorro (1981), Defenders of the Earth (1986), The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1988-1991), TaleSpin (1990-1994), Goof Troop (1992-1993), and Quack Pack (1996-1997). More recently, he worked as story editor on the special Strawberry Shortcake: The Berryfest Princess (2010) and wrote several episodes for the animated series Barney & Friends (2006-2010).

Geurs won two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program in 1989 and in 1990 for The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. He was also nominated for a Humanitas Prize for this work in 1992. In 1998 he received two Annie Award nominations for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Writing/ Directing in an Animated Feature Production for the special Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin and in 2004 he received a DVD Premiere Award nomination for Best Screenplay for his work on the video production Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year. More recently, he worked as story editor on the special Strawberry Shortcake: The Berryfest Princess (2010) and wrote several episodes for the animated series Barney & Friends (2006-2010).
