Miners played a big role in the Jupiter Mining Corporation, mining asteroids and planetoids under dangerous conditions for reasonable pay. Alongside the miners worked engineers, mineral geologists, machine operatives and a whole range of support crew. In-between missions the miners and "Astros" typically took full advantage of getting off their ships that they have been in for long periods of time and taking planet-leave to enjoy and go crazy in the night clubs and bars. All the miners aboard the JMC mining vessel Red Dwarf were killed in the radiation leak incident.

- Miners are the main characters of the games Cave Chaos and Cave Chaos 2. They also make a cameo appearance as enemies in Nitrome Must Die.
- The mining department is South-West of the bridge, just below Cargo. When you arrive, you'll want to grab a pickaxe and shovel. You can get equipment from the miner's closet. Some of the more notable items are a power pickaxe, three low yield explosives and a mining satchel. Next, head over to the Mining Shuttle (call it using the computer if it is not there) and send it and yourself to the mining station, which is built into an astroid. Pick up a mining hardsuit and head out into the asteroid. From there, you should start mining away at the asteroid in hopes of finding something of value. You might want to consider branch mining instead of chipping away at the edge as you will have a higher yield.
- Miners is a Total Conversion for Escape Velocity Nova. It was created by Arion and is one of the first TCs to be created for the game. Miners was created within the span of five days, not including the time it took to create the in-game graphics. Those were apperantly created sometime before. The TC was inspired by a game known as PurPeloid. It is also worth noting that unlike other total conversions, Miners runs out of the plug-ins folder as opposed to the data files folder. Hence, it relies on the main data files to run without crashing and also leads to the occasional appearance of stock Nova ships.
