- Mazda (stylized as maZDa) is a Japanese automobile manufacturer that has been featured in every Gran Turismo game to date. It's notorious for mass-producing the Wankel engine (and turbocharging it, which was the world's first on 1982) and re-inventing the small, lightweight, nimble and sporty roadster that once popular during the 1970s (MX-5, which holds the record of world's best selling sports car). Mazda tried to race their Wankel engine at Le Mans twice, only to be banned after the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans, where FIA stated that Wankel rotary engines weren't allowed to race anymore. Its most popular models are the RX-7, RX-8 (both are coupe-styled sport compact), and MX-5 (small sporty roadster).
