| - The Imperial Intelligence Combat Intelligence Division (CID) was a special operations force of the Imperial Intelligence Service and the Imperial Special Operations Command. The electronic intelligence counterpart to the Imperial Special Clandestine Activities Regiment, Combat Intelligence operators were responsible for the collection of electronic and technical measures of intelligence preceding, during, and after combat operations conducted by the Imperial Special Forces. Combat Intelligence operators, using sophisticated technologically-based means, were responsible for gathering signals intelligence, measurement and signature intelligence, and image intelligence in theaters of operations during peacetime and war, providing Imperial Intelligence and the Imperial Special Operations Command with actionable intelligence regarding enemy tactical movements and positions discerned from their communications intercepts. This enabled Intelligence and Special Forces commanders to authorize other Imperial special operations forces certified for direct action to conduct direct action operations to apprehend or neutralize targets identified by Combat Intelligence. Additionally, Combat Intelligence operators occasionally accompanied other Imperial Special Forces into battle, providing active and first-hand electronic intelligence to track moving targets or rapidly-changing tactical situations. Combat Intelligence agents also conducted casualty estimation after successful or unsuccessful special operations.
