  • From [[w:|]][[Category: derivations|Abuse]] or [[w:|]][[Category: derivations|Abuse]] abus, or [[w:|]][[Category: derivations|Abuse]] abūsus, perfect active participle of abūtor.
  • Abuse is a run and gun computer game developed by Crack dot Com, and published by Origin Systems/Electronic Arts. It was released in 1996, and runs on DOS and Linux operating systems. An improved port of the game was released for Mac OS by Bungie Studios and for the Acorn Archimedes by R-Comp Interactive. The game has been in the public domain since the late 1990s.
  • When something or someone is treated badly, that's abuse. Normally the PPC encounters abuse of the English language or of canon characters. In the second instance, abuse may be simply mischaracterisation, or it may be as serious as physical abuse (the character is beaten up and hurt by other characters) or sexual abuse (the character is molested or raped by other characters). Abuse is never okay. Sometimes physical or sexual abuse is used to build drama or to establish plot points or characterisation, and it can be justified if used very carefully. Most of the time, however, badficcers use it to set up hurt/comfort and do it badly. The PPC do not condone abuse of characters or of the English language.
  • Abuse is a fictional character in the DC Universe. Colin Wilkes was an orphan abducted by the Scarecrow and rescued by Batman. Colin was injected with venom and inhaled fear gas and became disoriented and attacked his hero, Batman. Colin later discovered that the chemical reaction of the venom and fear toxin allowed his body to change at will, and he was inspired to become the vigilante Abuse, watching over street kids and orphans like himself. After several team-ups, he became best friends with Damian Wayne.
  • Many tropes involve interpersonal abuse of some sort, from Abusive Parents to Bastard Boyfriend to Domestic Abuse to Financial Abuse to many of the Sexual Abuse Tropes. What, though, is abuse in Real Life? How is it recognized as such, and how does it differ from healthy (or even unhealthy but non-abusive) interpersonal interactions? While providing an entirely exhaustive treatment of abuse has both been done elsewhere and is beyond the overview of TV Tropes, this article exists to provide a short summary defining abuse itself, the most common types of abuse, warning signs of abuse, and to dispel some common myths (found in tropes or otherwise) about various types of abuse.
  • Actions of grief committed towards another resident can be considered abuse, especially if those actions are against the TOS and/or CS. An abuse report (often referred to by its abbreviation, AR) can be reported through Help -> Report Abuse... be sure to provide as much information as possible. You could also save yourself the trouble of taking the time to fill in an AR and just leave the area, because Linden Labs almost never does anything about it. Reporting false abuse is also a form of abuse. Cases of abuse are reviewed by Linden Lab Customer Service. Any penalties are enacted by liaisons unless the resident may be banned, then the record of the accused may be anonymously brought before a randomly chosen panel of other residents who will give input on their fate.
  • Detectives Benson and Stabler suspect parental neglect may have led to the tragic death of the son of two famous singers.
