Alice Cowell (née Garrett) (born 8 November 1842) She was one of eleven children of Newson Garrett and Louisa née Dunnell. In January 1863 she married Herbert Cowell in India. One of her older sisters was Elizabeth Garrett, feminist and member of the first London School Board.
