  • Veelak was a Romulan colonel in the 24th century. Sometime prior to 2385, Veelak became a colonel and served on the Repatriation Committee, a committee ensuring the fair treatment of prisoners of war from the Dominion War. Also prior to 2385, Veelak fell in love with Cardassian prisoner of war Terek Pa'Dan, the two producing a child an indeterminate amount of time after beginning their union. In November of 2385, Veelak accompanied Terek to Deep Space 9 to meet Terek's mother Mhevita Pa'Dan, who had been demanding information about her son from the Romulans since contact stopped between them in 2381. Terek and other Cardassian prisoners were invited by Starfleet to meet their families on DS9, as Starfleet had learned of the missing prisoners of war and opened their own investigation. In due course, Elim Garak, Castellan of the Cardassian Union, had been informed of the situation, and in turn offered the Romulan halves of each of the Cardassians to receive full citizenship on Cardassia Prime.
