- Stone guardians are powerful stone statues of zealots used by the Tal'darim to defend an alien artifact on Monlyth. The stone guardians have eyebeam weapons which resemble those of the colossus, though stone guardians can also attack air units. They look like normal zealot statues before being activated.

- The Stone Guardian is one of the guardians of the Lost Pyramid of Sandopolis. Towering way above normal people, this defender of treasure is virtually indestructable and can repair itself quickly if smashed to pieces. Despite the guardian probably being built by the ancient Echidna race, it did not recognise Knuckles the Echidna when Captain Plunder summoned him and sentenced all that disturbed him to death. After punching Sonic the Hedgehog into the ground, the guardian was lured into a massive pit of quicksand by Knuckles, condemning him to a life under the ground.
- Stone Guardians resemble Greek and Roman sculptures. The Kurzicks who dwell in the Forest insist that the monuments that these creatures guard predate them in the forest and were not made by their ancestors. However, they also insist that the structure many of them guard, Cathedral zu Heltzer, was built by their ancestors. Additionally, Terrik zu Heltzer, and presumably other Stone Singers, have the ability to create exact replicas of Stone Rains called zu Heltzer Guardians.
