The Old Flames are a faction for fans of Nick's fireplace. On 2 September 2012, Greer Watson posted a challenge to FORKNI-L@LISTS.PSU.EDU[1], saying that she had just created icons for two of the props in Forever Knight—specifically, Nick's fireplace and Schanke's duck lamp, and challenged people to come up with faction names for her to put on them. Her initial suggestions included Firelighters, Hearth-lovers, and Dragon-strokers. The following other names were also suggested: In the end, people were asked to express their preference; and "Old Flames" emerged the winner.
