In the creation myth told by the Sangheili race, Ardhi and the other moons were once part of a solid Macad. The Creator soon bored of the single orb and struck it with his sword, throwing five shards from it. One of these shards he transformed into Ardhi, the land where his creatures would dwell. He sliced into his flesh and allowed his blood to pour into its cracks, becoming the lakes and rivers from which life would arise.
