The Tiste Invasion was the arrival of the Tiste Edur and Tiste Andii to the Malazan world long before the evolution of humans. The Invasion was a result of the sundering of Kurald Emurlahn (home of the Edur), and the chaos that erupted in Kurald Galain when Mother Dark turned her back on her children, the Andii. The Invasion was opposed largely by the K'Chain Che'Malle, and resulted in a number of pitched battles between the Che'Malle and the allied races of Edur and Andii.

Spoiler warning: The following section contains significant plot details about Tiste Invasion. After the defeat of the last of the Che'Malle on the continent of Lether by a combined force of Edur and Andii, the former betrayed the latter, slaughtering nearly all the Andii. Scabandari Bloodeye, leader of the Edur, personally detained Silchas Ruin, leader of that contingent of Andii, and trapped him within an Azath House. The few Tiste Andii that managed to escape take up residence on the northeast of the continent and formed the nation of Bluerose, keeping the secret of their ancestry from the Edur, who settled on the northwest of the continent. Significant plot details end here.
