The Great Liberation Medal was a campaign medal awarded to servicebeings in the Glorious Armada of the Golden Empire who took part in the Great Liberation. Though the Great Liberation took place from 100 ABY to 102 ABY, the Great Liberation Medal's design was not approved until 103 ABY, and it was issued to all eligible recipients (or their next-of-kin, for posthumous awards) that year. The medal had four flames (orange, white, red, and yellow) on a blue plate, representing the Tetrarchy of Mezlagob and the four sectors in which the war was fought (Romasi, Mezlag, Xoquon, and Vall`to). It was surrounded by a gold-bordered black frame with the words "GREAT LIBERATION" in gold, and featured two Phoenix wings. The entire medal was suspended from a black, gold, and blue ribbon.

Rin Sakaros briefly considered ordering that the medal be the most senior campaign decoration, but her brother Tariun talked her out of it, convincing her that, while the Great Liberation was larger and more costly than any war which preceded it, it might be followed by worse conflicts still, and the order of precedence should not be subject to regular revision. His predication came true in 141 ABY.
