Grant played junior hockey with the Owen Sound Greys from 1924 to 1927. He turned pro with the London Panthers in 1927-28 and then was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs the following season. The Leafs used him as a rarely-used backup and also loaned him out to several teams, including the New York Americans. He ended up in the minor pros and played 5 seasons for the Springfield Indians and 2 seasons with the St. Paul Saints. Grant played in a total of 52 NHL games in his career.
