Scissasi dal Quendi divenne la lingua dei Teleri che giunsero ad Aman, diventando in breve l'idioma più parlato e arrivando a influenzare e ad essere influenzato dal Quenya e dal Vanyarin. Dal Telerin derivarono le due lingue più diffuse della Terra di mezzo: il Nandorin e il Sindarin.

- Telerin was a former dragonrider at Ista Weyr. His dragon died of the Dragons' Plague. He had earlier comforted Giren when his Kamenth went between.
- Telerin, also called Lindalambë or Lindárin ("tongue of the Lindar"), was the language of the Falmari. It was mainly spoken in Valinor, but the speakers of Telerin outnumbered in whole Aman the speakers of Quenya, much as did the Teleri outnumber the Vanyar and Noldor. Sometimes Telerin was been considered a dialect of Quenya, but the Teleri themselves considered it to be an independent language. In the broadest sense, Telerin refers to any tongue of Elves that were of Lindar origin. Finarfin is said to have learned Telerin. He also gave his sons Telerin-influenced Quenya names.

From the viewpoint of speakers of Quenya, Telerin was a closely related language still largely intelligible. However, the phonology of the two languages differed much, with Telerin often being more conservative than Quenya. Finarfin is said to have learned Telerin. He also gave his sons Telerin-influenced Quenya names. The coexistence with the Teleri, made the Noldor to differientate themselves from the speech of the Vanyar. For example the Vanyar pronounced /f/ very soft, almost like /hw/, but the Noldor resisted this change through influence from the Teleri. Also, the Teleri prized silver above gold, and their skill as silversmiths was esteemed even by the Noldor who seemed to prefer the Telerin word telpe "silver" intead the Quenya form tyelpë.
