The Fall of Man happened soon after the Creation of mankind. The first man and woman had been created perfect and were put in the Garden of Eden to guard and keep it for God. However, there was a test of their character placed deep within the garden: the Tree of Knowledge (of Good and Evil). The first couple, tempted by Satan in the guise of a serpent, failed the test.

However, there was a test of their character placed deep within the garden: the Tree of Knowledge (of Good and Evil). The first couple, tempted by Satan in the guise of a serpent, failed the test. The result was catastrophic, affecting all of creation as well as the first parents of mankind. Within less than two thousand years things had gotten so bad that God had to judge all of mankind in the Great Flood. The fall was into sin and away from God. The way back to God would be through a "Savior" -- a person descended from Adam and Eve but especially appointed by the Creator.
  • The Fall of Man, or simply "the Fall," in Christian doctrine refers to the transition of the first humans from a state of innocent obedience to God, to a state of guilty disobedience to God. In the Book of Genesis chapter 2, Adam and Eve live at first with God in a paradise, but are then deceived or tempted by the serpent to eat fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, which had been forbidden them by God. After doing so they become ashamed of their nakedness, and God consequently expelled them from paradise. The Fall is not mentioned by name in the Bible, but the story of disobedience and expulsion is recounted in both Testaments in different ways. The Fall can refer to the wider theological inferences for all humankind as a consequence of Eve and Adam's original sin. Examples include the teachings of Paul in Romans 5:12-19 and 1 Cor. 15:21-22. Some Christians believe the Fall corrupted the entire natural world, including human nature, causing people to be born into original sin, a state from which they cannot attain eternal life without the gracious intervention of God. Protestants hold that Jesus' death was a "ransom" by which humanity was offered freedom from the sin acquired at the Fall. In other religions, such as Judaism, Islam, and Gnosticism, the term "The Fall" is not recognized and varying interpretations of the Eden narrative are presented. The term "prelapsarian" refers to the sin-free state of humanity prior to the Fall. It is sometimes used in reference to sentimental recollections of a past time when conditions stood in sharp contrast to the present; this situation is called nostalgia.
  • "Fall of Man" refers to the moment Adam and Eve gave into temptation and ate from the forbidden fruit of knowledge, thus breaking a sacred bond between them and God - resulting in them being banished from the Garden Of Eden and (according to some texts) many of the ailments that trouble modern humanity. History According to most scripture God created Adam and Eve, allowing them to reside in the paradise known as the Garden Of Eden where he granted them the freedom to do as they pleased providing the follow his one rule: to never eat from the fruit of the tree of knowledge.Knowing of this agreement Satan took on the form of a serpent and tempted Eve into tasting the forbidden fruit, Even in turn was said to tempt Adam into doing the same - the two at once began to feel ashamed of their naked forms and also became fearful of God's anger. So it was when God came to speak with his two creations he found them hiding, upon asking them why they hid from him they eventually admitted to their crimes but Adam blamed Eve while Eve blamed the serpent.God cursed them all, starting with the serpent - who he removed the limbs of so it would forevermore slither across the ground: he then cursed Adam with hard labor and Eve with pain in childbirth. Finally, since the two had disodied God, they could no longer be permitted to live in paradise so God had them removed and ordered a cherub armed with a flaming sword to stand watch over the Garden so that no man could gain access to the Tree of Life.As a result of this event it was said humanity lost its original state of innocence - years later the idea of humanity falling further from grace was showcased when Cain, in a fit of anger, killed his brother Abel, becoming the first murderer.
