- The Red Lantern Corps are a group of angry guys who are like Green Lanterns but powered by an all-consuming rage that reaches to the bottoms of their very souls. Like rape victims, Vista users, or readers of american comic books at manga conventions. A rage so extreme that it cannot be calmed by reasoning, alcohol, or even internet porn.
- The Red Lantern Corps was formed by Atrocitus because of the rage he felt over being imprisoned and because due justice was not brought to the Guardians of the Universe, whose Manhunters had slaughtered almost the entirety of his Space Sector. Given that a Red Lanterns's rage is centrally felt over loss, he likely feels rage specifically over the loss of his sector, or the billions of years of his life lost because of his imprisonment.
- The Red Lantern Corps are a major antagonistic organization, functioning as anti-heroes throughout much of the DC universe and they were enemies of the Green Lantern Corps. Their power is derived from the emotional spectrum, and particularly out of pure anger and rage. They are the inhabitants of a destroyed galaxy on the other side of the universe known as the Forgotten Zone, given with a red power ring and with the sole purpose of seeking vengeance and destruction against both the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps alongside their vengeful Atrocitus.

- The Red Lantern Corps was formed as a result of the atrocities committed by the Green Lantern and Sinestro corps. Before recruiting sentient beings to the Green Lantern Corps, the Guardians formed a robotic army called the Manhunters to maintain order across the universe. After eons of service, a glitch arose within the Manhunters' programming, leading them to believe that the only way of maintaining order was to completely eradicate the universe of all known life. Sector 666 fell victim to this new philosophy when the Manhunters slaughtered all but five of its inhabitants. The five survivors become known as the Five Inversions; a terrorist cell bent on the destruction of the Guardians of the Universe.
