Upon release, Drake's Fortune was well received by critics, many of whom cited its technical achievements and its high production values, similar to that of summer blockbuster films. A commercial success, the game went on to sell over one million copies in ten weeks and was republished as a SCEE Platinum version on August 1, 2008 and as a US Greatest Hits on August 17, 2009. The success of Drake's Fortune led to a franchise consisting several sequels and other media such as comics, spin-off games and theatrical film adaptation. The game was followed by 2009's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. In October 2015, along with Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was re-released on the PlayStation 4 as a part of the Nathan Drake Collection.
