Synopsis
  • Appearing as a hologram, Red Skull reveals he's been secretly running Hydra to prepare the world for the Fourth Reich. Kingpin scolds Richard for allying himself with a Nazi and the Skull unveils the 5th and final Sleeper. Aboard the giant robot, Red Skull arises from the Nevada desert and advances on Las Vegas, poisoning all civilians In his path. Kingpin agrees to help stop Red Skull and Cap grabs a Femme Force jet pack to intercept the robot. Falcon contacts Fury who redirects the helicarrier, as Kingpin sends his criminal associates to intercept the 5th Sleeper. Val and Sharon rally Femme Force to attack the 5th Sleeper with Cap, allowing the Avenger to enter the robot. The 5th Sleeper fights off Femme Force, the Kingpin's men, and a squad of SHIELD fighter jets as Cap fights his way through the 5th Sleeper's body, defeating the Skull's men to confront Red Skull in the control room. Falcon and Redwing join Cap to overpower the Skull, who falls from the Sleeper. Destroying its controls, the heroes cause the robot to explode. Later, Fury debriefs the team at Harold Howard's hotel.
Notes
  • * In this issue, the Red Skull is revealed to be in Captain America #145-147. * Harold Howard, the Kingpin's disguised alias, is spelled "Howards' in this issue. * This issue features a letters page, Let's Rap With Cap. Letters are published from Nancy Stenzler, Steve Carey, Tom Ayers, and Nancy Brand. * Captain America helps save the world in Avengers 101 and helps the Avengers fight the Sentinels in Avengers 102-104 shortly after this story. * As seen on page one, this issue is Story#807Z. * This issue is reprinted in other comics and books, see references for more info. * The Red Skull's expletive "schweinhunds!" on page 13 is misspelled . The term literally means "pig dogs" in German but the English word closer to the spirit of the term would be "bastards."
