The 1970 German Grand Prix was the eighth round of the 1970 Formula One Season. It was also the first time that the race was held at the Hockenheimring, after the Nürburgring declined to make necessary safety improvements. The race was won by Austrian Jochen Rindt in a Lotus, after an exciting battle with Ferrari driver Jacky Ickx of Belgium. The margin of victory was 0.7 seconds. Denny Hulme was third, and Lotus rookie Emerson Fittipaldi took a fine fourth. Only seven of the 21 starters finished the race. __TOC__
