Synopsis
  • Batman encounters a jobless man who robs street-corner Santas of their collections, but decides to help the man after listening to his story. He introduces Batman to his niece, and Batman suggests the man’s former employer is responsible for his woe. The man agrees and hits Batman over the head with a lamp then ties him to the apartment radiator. When Batman comes out of it ninety minutes later he asks the girl to release him but she says she has been forbidden to do so until morning. Batman realizes the radiator is loose and manages to free himself. He takes the girl with him because there is no one else to watch her as he attempts to stop the man from murdering his former employer. When he arrives at the snow-covered grounds of the mansion Batman realizes that he and the girl won't be able to reach the residence in time when he spots a horse and sleigh. Batman and the girl hop in the sleigh and the horse takes them directly to the mansion when the man emerges carrying the body of his former employer. Batman assumes the man has murdered the old man but he tells Batman the old man is sick and he was attempting to get him help. They get into the sleigh and make their way to a nearby hospital. At the hospital the man tells Batman he had a change of heart when he saw how frail his former employer was and he realized that he was better off. The hospital staff inform Batman the old man will pull through and that another thirty minutes would have been too late. Batman tells the man that eventually he will face the legal consequences of his actions but the Wayne Foundation will intercede for him and he gives the man some money to buy a nice Christmas for his niece. Batman ponders the horse and sleigh was a miracle which saved the old man's life. When he leaves the hospital, the horse and sleigh have vanished.
