Katrina Hao served as guest colorist for this short story to allow Cheyenne Wright to finish coloring the re-release of Agatha Heterodyne and the Beetleburg Clank without being "killed by overwork." Although it is categorized as a short story break, unlike most such stories it takes place within the main continuity. It explains how the Jägermonster, Maxim, acquires a new hat. (He gave his old one for Lars to be buried in at the [ end of Volume VI] [[Chronology - Volume #|✣ ]].) Maxim appears in Volume XI with the hat when the Jägergenerals [ interview] [[Chronology - Volume #|✣ ]] da Boyz, who have not yet been reattached. Then in XII [ da Boyz] [[Chronology - Volume #|✣ ]] are again fighting with the pack and Maxim refers to its previous owner, Ol' Man Death.
