The Nightsisters were a clan of witches that lived on the mysterious world of Dathomir. As one of the many clans of witches on Dathomir, the Nightsisters chose to live apart from these other groups choosing to develop the malicious aspects of their mystic abilities. Originally founded by outcasts who had exiled from their respective clans. In time the Nightsisters grew into a powerful force in Dathomiri politics. Like all witches on Dathomir had a matriarchical society where men lived as servants, slaves and occasionally mates. This role in relation to the Nightsisters is filled by the Zabrak Nightbrothers.

- Operating under a revised holy text known as the Book of Shadows, these sorceresses used their powerful connection to Dathomir's untamed wilds to terrorize their fellow clans and fight for dominance over the planet. Although the witches had designs for galactic dominance, they were largely confined to their own world, as the Jedi Order maintained active interdiction of the planet. The Nightsisters themselves were divided into various competing clans of their own until approximately 32 BBY, when Clan mother Zalem attempted to use Dathomir's legendary Infinity Gate to destroy Coruscant, the capital world of the Galactic Republic. Their leader (according to Star Wars Canon) is Gethzerion, found on the second floor of the Nightsister Stronghold. Another powerful Nightsister, Axkva Min, is also situated in the Stronghold (in the caves beneath the area, entrance is outside the gate) under very heavy guard, and slaying her gains the player a Badge.
