Judge Alderman presided over Weatherfield Crown Court in the first half of 2007 during the trial of Tracy Barlow, accused of the murder of boyfriend Charlie Stubbs. When the Foreman of the jury stated that they had found the defendant guilty, Judge Alderman told the court that the charge carried a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment and after hearing submissions from the defence and prosecution, she recommended that Tracy should serve a minimum of fifteen years in prison before being eligible for parole.
