The Ministry for Security and Intelligence was the political police and foreign intelligence agency of the British Union from 1950 until 1991, when the UBPR was dissolved. Due to its role in counterintelligence, the MSI played a crucial role in the Cold War. It was disbanded permanently in 1991, replaced by the National Security Service (domestic intelligence) and Secret Intelligence Service (foreign intelligence).
