According to Disney Legend, Pangani Forest Exploration Trail was originally a hunting trail during the Dutch rule over Harambe, after Harambe was self-governed, it was turned into a wildlife preserve. Additionally, a king's tomb can be found on the trail, hinting Harambe once had a monarch-like government.
