| - Mega Man X (マリオ) AKA just X is a video game character and the star of the Mega Man X series. His design is mostly based on the original Mega Man. He also is a character in the Mega Man Zero series.
- X is a Maverick Hunter who, along with his partners Zero, Axl and the rest of the Maverick Hunters, protects humans and androids known as Reploids by hunting down rogue Reploids known as Mavericks. While Mega Man, the protagonist of the Mega Man Classic series, was largely a personality-less cypher, the Mega Man X series places a greater emphasis on fiction, and casts X as a warrior who desires nothing better than to live in peace, but is forced to fight in order to protect that peace.
- Mega Man X, named Rockman X (ロックマンエックス Rokkuman Ekkusu?) in Japan, commonly called "X", is the epnonymous protagonist of the Mega Man X series. X also serves as a guide during the Mega Man Zero series and appears as Model X in the Mega Man ZX series. He is the successor of the original Mega Man and is Dr. Thomas Light's greatest creation. X is a Maverick Hunter who fights alongside his partners Zero and Axl in order to maintain peace and stability in the world and protect humans and Reploids alike from Maverick Reploids, though X would like nothing better than the opportunity to stop fighting. Because of his aversion to violence, X is initially ranked a B-Class Hunter, but he is eventually promoted to S-Class.
