- "Absolute Justice is here!"- Gan's introductory catchphrase Gan is a Hikaribito and one of the 5 main heroes of Shougeki Gouraigan
- Gan is the creative overforce in the cosmology of Stephen King's universes. King's inspiration for the word remains unknown, but he may have taken it from a Hebrew word, which means, simply, "garden." Gan's role in the novels is very much in line with the concept of God or the Wandjinah.
- Gan was one of Daolon Wong's original Dark Chi Warriors. He wielded a sanjiegun, a staff that could split into three chain-linked portions (a three-section staff), which appears with a pouring-in effect. After Gan was sealed in the Urn of Wei Cheing, Wong replaced him by turning Chow into a new Dark Chi Warrior in his place. Chow also retained his signature glasses.
- Gan was a Bajoran and a Sergeant in the Bajoran Militia in the 2370s. Gan serves on Deep Space 9. In 2376, Ezri Dax was giving orders to Sergeant Gan when Kira Nerys appeared in Ops, having travelled through an Iconian Gateway. Gan was surprised to see Kira. (DS9 short story: "Horn and Ivory")
- The native Humans (likely not literal Humans, but nearly indistinguishable from them) of Amtor, they have black hair, dark brown eyes, and dark skin. They do not grow facial hair. They are the most diverse group of people on the planet, with many individual cultures. Also important to note that individuals of this race exist in both the northern and southern hemispheres, unaware of each other's existence.

- Gan is the godlike figure that arose from the waters of the Prim who spun the physical universe from his navel and is the spirit of the Dark Tower. Others say Gan rose from the Prim and Mid-World emerged from him breaking apart into many parallel worlds. After the Prim receded the Beams and the Dark Tower remained forming the framework of the time/space continuum. His wife Bessa invented riddling to entertain him and it is said he placed Buffalo Star in the sky. It is thought by some that the tower itself could be the embodiment of Gan as the Sisters from Our Lady Of The Rose believe.
