| - In 2373, Benjamin Sisko led a team from Deep Space 9 to investigate the possibility of establishing a mining operation to extract the cormaline. Jadzia Dax found that the cormaline was only a few hundred meters under the surface and veins were among the richest she had seen. Worf commented that Torga IV's proximity to Dominion space could disrupt supply lines but did not make a mining operation impossible. The crew's mission was interrupted when a Jem'Hadar starship crashed near their position. When Sisko's team investigated the wreckage, they were forced to take refuge inside the ship when the Vorta Kilana arrived to retrieve it and ordered her Jem'Hadar soldiers to lay siege to the ship. The Starfleet crew could not discover why Kilana wanted the ship, although Sisko and Dax would later discover a Changeling aboard that died soon after. Having failed to save the Founder, Kilana's Jem'Hadar crew killed themselves. The USS Defiant arrived soon after and towed the Jem'Hadar starship off the planet. (DS9 episode: "The Ship") A mining operation would soon be established on Torga IV to mine the cormaline, with the species arriving on the planet to live and work there including Bajorans, Ferengi, Klingons and Romulans. In 2373, a group of Starfleet officers from Deep Space 9, led by Captain Benjamin Sisko, visited the planet in a runabout in order to determine the feasibility of establishing a mining operation on the planet. Although the cormaline was only a few hundred meters below the planet's surface, the main threat to any possible mining operation was the planet's proximity to Dominion space. Indeed, the Dominion arrived soon after, when a Jem'Hadar ship carrying a Founder crashed on the planet. After Sisko and his team occupied it, another Jem'Hadar ship arrived and destroyed the team's runabout, killing its crew, including Hoya. A bitter siege ensued that led to the deaths of Enrique Muniz, T'Lor and the Founder, as well as Kilana's Jem'Hadar. The crew was later able to remove the ship from Torga IV with the help of the USS Defiant. (DS9: "The Ship") According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 75), the primary of the Torga system was a M-class star. According to StarTrek.com and the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 406) , Torga IV was a M-class planet. According to Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 406), the exterior scenes set on Torga IV were filmed at a rock quarry north of Los Angeles.

Unter der Leitung von Captain Sisko sollen die Cormalinvorkommen vor Ort begutachtet werden, um festzustellen, ob sich ein Abbau lohnt. Dies ist vor allem angesichts der relativen Nähe zum Territorium des Dominion schwierig. Während der Mission stürzt ein Jem'Hadar-Schiff auf dem Planeten ab, kurz nachdem ein Außenteam vom Runabout auf die Oberfläche gebeamt worden ist. Während Sisko und sein Team das Innere des Schiffs untersuchen, kommt ein zweites Jem'Hadar-Schiff in das System und zerstört das im Orbit befindlichen Runabout. An Bord sterben Fähnrich Hoya und zwei weitere Personen. Die Jem'Hadar beamen auf den Planeten und greifen das Außenteam an. Dabei wird T'Lor getötet. Als das Team sich in das abgestürzte Schiff flüchtet, belagern die Jem'Hadar das Schiff und bombardieren es mit Ultritium-Erschütterungsgranaten. Die Belagerung endet, als der Gründer stirbt, der sich auf der Brücke des abgestürzten Schiffs versteckt hat. Kurze Zeit später kommt die USS Defiant der Gruppe zur Hilfe. Es gelingt Sisko und seinem Team, das gestrandete Schiff mit Hilfe der Defiant von Torga IV zu bergen. (DS9: ) Der Name dieses Planeten lässt vermuten, dass er der Planet eines Planetensystems mit der Bezeichnung „-System“ ist. Die Existenz dieses dazugehörigen Planetensystems lässt sich nicht durch Canon-Quellen belegen, ergibt sich allerdings aus der fiktiven Benennungskonvention, einen Planeten ohne speziellen Eigennamen nach dem dazugehörigen Zentralgestirn zu benennen.
