Annasville was an officers' collegium in southern Detina. Officers for the Detinan army were trained there. Both loyal and Northern officers in the Detinan Civil War had come through the collegium. However, since both sides had to expand their armies very quickly with volunteers, many senior officers were amateurs. The more capable of those officers, such as Logan, resented the advantage Annasville alumni had over them even though many alumni had proven themselves less than brilliant over the course of the war.
