  • Finding a nearly-finished creature buried deep in an archive server was a real coup, and once the model was upgraded and retextured the whole team was very excited to get these beasties into the game. There was some discussion over what to call them, and the team settled on "Margul".
  • But wait! One thing was still missing -- our new beastie was silent. Orion and Scenario spent some time in the recording studio and created a whole suite of growls and gurgles and various noises for the Margul.
  • :"Several months ago I was looking through the existing art assets and came across the original model. It was old, and designed as a very low polygon creature. We saw it, it looked cool, but the Olthoi Story arc was in full swing so there wasn't a good opportunity to add it in, until now. *evil laughter* I took the original model, upgraded it and retextured it."
  • Guess what's under the tree this year!
  • That's when Orion stepped in:
  • The Margul will now be one of the features of the upgraded Singularity Caul that you'll see in January.
  • But a Content Designer was still needed to create all the stats and actually find a place for them in the game.
  • center|300px The Margul is just one piece of the new and updated content that you'll see in the January event. Thanks for being with us in 2003, and we look forward to having a lot of fun in 2004!
  • center We'd like to give you a little sneak peak at one part of the upcoming January event -- a new creature, the Margul.
  • :"When Scenario showed us the model for the Margul there was an immediate response. We all wanted to see this little guy find his way into the game. We didn't know exactly where he would fit until we knew that there were changes coming to the Singularity Caul. His back story is directly tied to the former inhabitants of the island and will be told over time."
