| - Kjell Dahlin (b. February 2nd 1963 in Timrå, Sweden) is a former professional right winger who played in the Elitserien for Timrå IK and Färjestads BK and the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens. An excellent showing at the 1981 European Junior Championship and a good season with Timrå IK brought the Canadiens to draft Dahlin 82nd overall of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. After a few seasons with Färjestad, Dahlin made his NHL debuts in 1985 with Montreal. He had an excellent rookie season, his 32 goals and 71 points tying Mats Näslund's record for the most points by a rookie. He however failed to win the Calder Memorial Trophy, even though he was the league's top scoring rookie, because of an outstanding season by rookie defenceman Gary Suter. Dahlin had his revenge however; he would win, against all odds, the Stanley Cup in 1986 with an underdog Montreal team led by rookie goaltender Patrick Roy. Dahlin was limited to a mere 5 points in the playoffs. The following season, Kjell was limited to 41 games because of injuries and his offensive fell to 20 points. The next, Dahlin only played in 48 games and scored 5 more points than in 1986-87. This marked Dahlin's last North American season; he headed back to Sweden to resume play with Färjestads BK. He retired from competition in 1994.
