The Glintara sector is an area of space which lies in both the Cardassian Union and the Romulan Star Empire. The Glintara system, for which the sector was named, was a covert base of operations for the Cardassian 4th Order since the 2350s. Trepar kept this hidden from the Detapa Council. In Grathon Tolar's forged recording he made for Benjamin Sisko, the Dominion was to have used the sector as a staging point for the invasion of Romulus. (DS9 episode: "In the Pale Moonlight")

| - In the forged holorecording created by Grathon Tolar in 2374, the planned Dominion invasion of Romulan space involved the advance of the 23rd Jem'Hadar Division through the Glintara sector, with the Cardassian Fourth Order protecting their flank. The holographic Weyoun predicted that the division would land on Romulus the following day. (DS9: "In the Pale Moonlight") According to Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 66) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Stellar Cartography", pp. 32-33; "Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the Glintara sector (Sector 31) was located in the Beta Quadrant. Within this sector, there was a star system named Glintara, which this sector might possibly be named after. This was a binary system with a pair of K-class stars. According to a map of the Romulan Empire – prepared by the Stellar Archivist Lsel Essik, from the Romulan Master Data Catalog, in 2366 – Glintara was identified as a Romulan system. In the DS9 novel Hollow Men, Elim Garak claims that the Glintara sector had been the site of a covert base operated by the Fourth Order since the 2350s.

(DS9 episode: "In the Pale Moonlight") Later that year, Rhemet raised the possibilty of an Allied attack on the Glintara sector, although Elim Garak revealed the existence of the hidden Cardassian bases, making such an assault unfeasible.
