Dunlendish was the language and only vernacular of those Men who were native to Calenardhon (the lands that became Rohan) and then to Dunland - the Dunlendings, or Wildmen. This tongue was quite unlike the Common Speech, and seemed to have roots in an older Mannish tongue not akin to what Atani spoke. One known Dunlendish term was forgoil, a name with which the Dunlendings insulted the Rohirrim. Sometime in the early Third Age, the Stoors were likely to have adopted this language when making abode in and near Dunland.
