Sylvak was a Cathar, from the planet of the same name. He began his career as a spacer at a young age (it's easy to lie about your age when you're 2 meters tall), finding work as a smuggler, bounty hunter, and mercenary. He had risen to the position of captain aboard Archer, a KDY Star Galleon. After being heavily damaged in a pirate attack, the vessel and her remaining crew limped to the Sluis Van Shipyards, where Sylvak met Jacen Wayland. The smuggler offered him a job as a privateer, and agreed to repair Sylvak's ship as a condition of his employment. The ship, rebuilt as an interdictor and newly rechristened Angler, joined Wayland's Wilders as an important tactical asset.
