Dant was one the representatives of the United Telephone and Telegraph Company from the United States in Cuba in the 1950s. He and his colleague Fred Corngold were present at the business meeting with Fulgencio Batista in Havana in late 1958. He was also present at Batista New Year's Eve party and immediately fled the country when Batista declared his resignation after the defeat of his army by the rebel forces of Fidel Castro.
