Chappe is credited with the story for "Disappearing Act", and shares the teleplay credit with Robby London. Chappe's most prominent work is the screenplay for the 1999 film Beowulf (co-written with Mark Leahy). However, he is perhaps best known for Gale Force, a screenplay about a man protecting a town from criminals during a hurricane. The spec script became infamous for beginning the trend of studios making exorbitant bids on screenplays, although Gale Force itself was ultimately never completed.
