Jeff Cook is the former National Field Representative for the Log Cabin Republicans. [1] On September 27, 2005, he announced an exploratory committee to evaluate the possibility of challenging incumbent Republican Sue Kelly in the primary for New York's 19th district [2]. Cook cited alleged betrayals by Kelly of her promises to support GLBT rights in Congress as his primary motivating factor. However, on March 28, 2006, Cook announced that he would not enter the race, citing the difficulty and drawbacks of running a negative campaign against a member of his own party. Cook also implied in his announcement that he would seek elected office at a later date. [3]
