Edwin Mumford Preston (1870 - 12 November 1940) was a businessman and local politician in the Deptford area. Born in Deptford, he was the son of Edwin James Preston, a hydraulic engineer. He became an assistant in the family firm and then a partner the large engineering firm of J Stone. From 1910-1913 he sat as a Municipal Reform Party member of the London County Council for Deptford. He served two terms as Mayor of Deptford in 1908-1909 and 1911-1912. In December 1912 he formally opened "Hilary House", a tuberculosis dispensary in Deptford on land he had donated.
