It is a Starship-Era nation compromising of 61 sectors of its starship, with the 61st sector being it' capital, Columbia. It is considered one of the oldest living successful democracies on the planet. It is the current leader of the North American Division of the UN Interstellar Fleet. The nation, like every other Starship-Era Nation, wasn't originally founded within it's vessel. Its foundation had dated back to July 4, 1776, where the original thirteen colonies issued the Declaration of Independence, which proclaimed their independence and formed a confederation from Great Britain and their formation of a cooperative union. Against overwhelming odds, the new nation had defeated Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War. The United States later dropped the Articles of Confederation in favor of a Constitution on September 17, 1787, further strengthening the government and solved the problem. The Bill of Rights, compromising of the first ten constitutional amendments guaranteeing many fundamental civil rights and freedoms to its citizens was ratified in 1791, under the (first) President George Washington. Throughout the 19th century, the United States' territory expanded to over three times its original size, with its maximum territorial height in late 1945 to early 1946. Its size and expansion had ultimately led itself to rise in international affairs, starting from 1918. It fought against another global superpower called the Soviet Union and won. It eventually went on to become the lone global superpower until its position of power was threatened by 2020s with the rise of China and Russia. It eventually fought in World War 3 (2037 to 2047), and after a period of military setbacks, ultimately won a Pyrrhic victory, resulting in the world with almost a billion dead. However, this enabled the UN to grow in power and restricted the international sovereignty of all the nations in all but name. The United States received a period of economic and technological growth between 2075 to the early 2260s, called the "Golden Era" or "Pax Terrana". In the 2270s, it pulled its vast manpower and technological might to create one of the largest interstellar generational arks the world has ever seen, with its initial population of over a million people with plenty of room for growth. It participated as the third wave of nations that left Earth in 2277, over three years before the Solar storm hit. Several incidents and conflicts occur within the 800 years of departure but it was one of the 170 nations from the 200 that left Earth to survive. By 3020, it still continue to lead the North American Division with the least amount of casualties compared to other divisions, under the 176th US president.
