- "Barbie Girl" is a 1997 song in the bubblegum pop genre by the Danish dance-pop group Aqua. The lyrics of the song are about Barbie and Ken, the world famous dolls by toy company Mattel, which led to a lawsuit brought out by Mattel against Aqua for making Barbie look like a sex symbol. The case was dismissed by the judge after being defended as "social commentary."[1] Peter sings "Barbie Girl" as Quagmire tries to remember the words to "Four Friends" in #JOLO", derailing his train of thought.
