When Magatha poisoned the blade of Garrosh Hellscream, the acting leader of the Horde, in the duel that resulted in Cairne's death, Stormsong felt that his mistress had betrayed what it meant to be a shaman. Acting quickly and without notice, he managed to secret away a haft fragment of the Bloodhoof Runespear, which had been shattered in the duel. Thus it was, when he was sent by Magatha to lead a group of Grimtotem warriors to kill Cairne's son and heir, Baine in Bloodhoof Village, Stormsong separated from his group and snuck to Baine's tent, warning him of Magatha's treachery. • When Magatha poisoned the blade of Garrosh Hellscream, the acting leader of the Horde, in the duel that resulted in Cairne's death, Stormsong felt that his mistress had betrayed what it meant to be a shaman. As such, he was the first person to refer to Baine as "Chieftain". After convincing Baine of the truth in his words along with the fragment as physical proof, Stormsong engineered Baine's escape from Bloodhoof, thus tipping off the other Grimtotems that he had turned against them. They escaped to Camp Taurajo, where with Hamuul Runetotem they started planning their next options. Stormsong aided Baine in rallying support for his eventual retaking of Thunder Bluff from Magatha and her loyalists, including a visit to the goblin port of Ratchet to purchase weapons and other materials from its leader, Gazlowe. He then conjured a false storm to cover the approach of the three zeppelins Gazlowe had provided to bring Baine's forces into the city. As a Grimtotem who condemned the evil his tribe's matriarch had committed, Stormsong remained in Thunder Bluff as part of Baine's trusted inner circle, becoming the leader of any other Grimtotems who chose to disassociate themselves from their treacherous brethren.
